7th Day [4th Dec 2008] : Paris

Visited: The Versailles, Chams d'Elysees (Arc De Triomphe)

Our first stop for the day was The Versailles which is known to be one of the most famous palaces in Paris. The palace space was HUGE. If you were to walk from the front of the palace right to the end, it would probably take a day or so. I'm not kidding.

This is the GOLDEN gates at the entrance of the palace. It was recently refurbished, so that explains the extreme shininess which gives that particular "glow".

Inside the palace there were plenty of doors which lead to many many rooms. Not all of the rooms were accessible to public.
Btw, Everything was LARGE in the palace.
The doors,
The fireplace (can throw a human in, and he/she would burned up like a roasted pig), and even the beds. I felt like a midget.
The beds are so high, I wonder why do kings have to sleep on such height?? What if they roll off the beds? wouldn't it hurt? haha. X)

The hall of mirrors (my favourite) were one of the most famous halls within The Versailles.
I can totally see why.
Mirrors lined the walls in the hall and it looked so magnificent!
Who WOULDN'T love that??

Took a picture with part of the mirrors. haha
I could see myself from every angle.
Other than that, the whole palace was filled with beautiful paintings, magnificent stairways and sculptures which would make you speechless at it's detail. Every part of the palace was decorated, you'd feel like you're walking in a piece of art. Randomly looking out any of the magnificent large windows, you'd see a beautiful scenery of the colourful gardens. Oh yeah, other than this extremely huge palace, there were other mini houses/palaces surrounding the place. But the nearest one was a 30 minutes walk from the main palace. Imagine how did the people live there? They'd probably have to travel around by horses.
The "mother-in-law" happened to live in the furthest palace. *laughs*

Ah, another one of my dreams realised. Seeing a real(old) palace. =)

Upon exit, I saw this heart! Oh yea, they had some 3d art all around the palace by some modern artist. I don't really know it's there, but, this heart sure had my interest! =)
I bent down in order to make sure I had the full heart in the picture. haha

After some adjustments I was able to stand up properly and take a picture with it. Don't ask me why am I so obsessed with it, I don't know! I took so many pictures of this heart. haha.

Did I mention that it was raining on that day?
Well, not exactly raining like it has been in Malaysia. It was more of a light drizzle (but they call it rain).
Although it was only a drizzle and you could barely feel the water, when the wind blew..oh my..you'd feel like you're in a freezer. The wind was so strong, it could turn your umbrella inside out. -.- *moment of silence to the black umbrella, it has served us well*

Some happy memories with the black umbrella. You can't see it, but the back of the umbrella was spoilt by the wind.

R.I.P black umbrella! I closed it, and it was gone forever.
Actually that wasn't my umbrella, was my dad's but it was in my car for a long time. So yeah.
My umbrella's pink. I bought it from Japan.
To save my own lovely umbrella, I decided to wear a plastic raincoat my dad bought................
from MYDIN.
Can you imagine that? I feel so self-less.

Ok, the truth is I'm just too lazy to hold an umbrella.
It's not because I wanted to save it. Holding an umbrella is quite a tiring job when you had to snap photos, pose and smile at the same time. Look at this picture, I look so free I could fly.
haha.
I know I look ridiculous though. But it's alright, I don't really bother about embarassing myself anymore because I've embarassed myself billions of times I've become totally unaffected by people's laughter, sniggers behind my back, etc etc. Sound sad huh? Well, that's the truth 'bout my life. ;p

Ops, got a little over distracted there.
back to the story.
We took a mini train which was supposed to bring us to Marie Antoinette's palace but we got off at the wrong place and we were running out of time. So, we decided to take pictures around the main palace instead.

It was a really bumpy ride though. Look at the road.

My dad claimed that his backbones were breaking. haha
Me and my sisters were having fun though.
My sister said, "are they trying to give us the feeling of being in a horse carriage?"

This is one of their "basins".
A very large lake with lot's of swans.
You can't see it in the picture but there were loads of swans on my right.

I got a close-up of one. =)
There were sculptures all around the mesmerizing garden.

And..you can see that there are puddles of water created by the drizzle.

Bought some souveniers and it was time to go to..

Chams d'Elysees.
My beloved mom and dad! =)

Me and my lovely sisters.

And of course..one of Paris's landmark.

The Arc de Triomphe.

Nerd talk : Anyone played Final Fantasy 8 before?? This arc looks exactly like the arc where Squall was supposed to trap the witch Edea. I was so excited. hahaha =D
