I took forever to upload these pictures! And it was less than half of the pictures we took *wipes sweat off forehead* Uploading pictures on the blog is quite tiring kay. You gotta click and wait and adjust the margins. Etc, etc. (I'm exaggerating) Anyway, pictures thanks to the camera-woman : Yen. I brought my own camera but I was too lazy to take it out. haha. ;)
Graduation Trip: Redang Island
Accomodation: Redang Bay
Transport: Air Asia
[= Fun Budget Trip for everyone]
Our plane was set for departure at 7.05am (18.08.09) and the week before our departure my mom had booked a 7 seater cab to LCCT. However, that idiot decided to do a no-show. By 5am, I was beginning to panic (we needed about 45 minutes of travelling time to reach LCCT from my place) because me and Yen had to check in our luggages and as you know, if you don't check in at least 45 minutes before, you won't be able to check in at all. I was whining early in the morning because of that cab driver. Around 5.05am, my mom decided not to take the risk of waiting and started calling some other cabs.
Within minutes 2 cabs arrived (Comfort cabs). They saved our lives! Literally!
We arrived at LCCT around 5.50am so there was still about 15 min or so left before the check-ins were closed. I was sooo relieved.
Here's the picture of our lovely Air Asia plane. You can see that the sky is just beginning to have that tinge of bright blue where the sun is about to rise. It's beautiful. :)
In the plane I was dead hungry so I orded this Sotong Nasi Lemak for RM9. I must say, the food wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
The journey took a mere 50 minutes and it felt extremely short because by the time I finished my nasi lemak and came back from the washroom, the pilot have already started announcing our arrival at the Sultan Mahmud Airport, Kuala Terengganu.
We then took our luggage and went as a group to the bus which drove us to the jetty. The bus ride felt quite long though. It was about 45 minutes I think? 'cause I slept in the bus and by the time I woke up, we were still in the road. lol.
Anyway, I think the jetty should be improved because it kinda gives the impression that we were about to head to a deserted dirty island. Picture this: you arrive at this jetty and everything is made of wood. And the wood I'm talking about isn't those "nice" ones. There's a hut which is poorly made and it seemed as though it could fall apart anytime. The water is greenish and you could see algae all around. Forget it, I shall just upload the picture of the Jetty area. lol.
Looking at the condition of the jetty..it made me wonder..if Redang would live up to its name?
And yes, in case you didn't know, it was the first time I went to Redang Island.
So anyway, thoughts aside, we went into the yacht and as we went furrther and further away from the jetty, everything became better and better.
Here's the view from the boat on the way to Redang Island. And no, that island is not Redang.
This is Redang. :)
Along the whole stretch of beach we were at, there were about 4-5 resorts. The best along the stretch would be Laguna. It's hugeee! And expensive, obviously. However, according to the people who work in Redang, the most expensive hotel is the Berjaya hotel which is very exclusive. It can't be seen in that stretch of resorts because it was on the other side of the island.
When we reached the island, we had to walk on the beach to reach our resort (Redang Bay). Thank goodness they drove our luggages there. We booked a family room, therefore we were able to fit everyone in. The room we booked was a basic room (Family room) which includes a double decker bed (queen size bottom and single size top), queen size bed and 2 extra single sized beds provided. There's water heater too. Other than that, breakfast, lunch and dinner was provided at the nearby cafeteria. The room was good enough for us because we weren't in the room most of the time anyway. ;) Btw, their soup during meals were really really good! Most of the meals consists of chinese food.
On the first day, we didn't do much of the beach activities. It was basically a day for exploration..
Me and Yen got this air-spray tattoo on our bodies just for fun. I had one on my left just above the chest with the words "bad girl" with red hearts and Yen had a butterfly on the top part of her right ass. hahaha.
We changed into our bikini's and put on loads of sun-block..
Then, it was picture time!
Me showing off my so-called tattoo. I will never make a real tattoo. Firstly, I don't think I'd like to go through the pain. Secondly, I won't wanna scar my skin for life. I prefer these fake ones which I can put on and take off as I please. ;)
The 4 shadows from left to right: Chan Heng, Yen, Boon and Me.
Obviously I wanted to take a picture of me in the clear water. :) And on the right, it's me fooling around with the hammock. It's not a fisherman's net. -_-
I like this pic :) From left to right: Me, Chan Heng, Boon and Fernie.
This is the place where we chilled most of the time when we wanted some snacks or drinks. But it's so over-priced. On the second day we ate some Keropok, Fried Cempedak, drank some coconuts and the bill came up to RM68. However, it's a tourist destination so I guess we can't complain much. lol.
The first night was the Twister night. It was kinda insane! I had trouble keeping myself off the ground and I don't know why I always had the "luck" of getting difficult positions. Omg.
This was when we all went over to chee wee and friend's room to join them for drinks. As usual I didn't drink because I'm an awefully bad drinker. So I just sat and watch.
On the second day, all of us managed to wake up early for breakfast because everyone slept early that night. :p
WE went for the 9.30am snorkelling session at Marina Bay and this was where Yen totally emo because she didn't get her underwater picture taken. lol.
Since she didn't get her picture taken the first time, she made us follow her for another session at 2.30pm. This time, it was snorkelling at the "deep sea" which I find quite shallow.
The corals were pretty though. :) However, Marina Bay seemed nicer to me because there were more "life" there. We got to see a large eel coming out of its cave (which was quite scary looking), some stone-like fish which weighs 60kg and loads more which I don't know the term to. lol.
This was taken after we came back from Marina Bay, changed and proceeded to go to the "More More Tea House" because we had time to spare before the 2nd snorkelling session at 2.30pm.
This is the "re-make" version of the More More Tea House. It was supposedly a movie set where Sammi Cheng shot her movie entitled Summer Holiday which was in Redang Island.
By the way! the island was blooming with romance while we were there because firstly, we saw this!
A couple having a wedding shoot. They were so sweet..Awww :')
Secondly, there was another scenario which totally almost made me tear. Read on and you'll know why. haha.
Oh yeah, it's been a long time since I played with Bubbles so I decided to buy a bottle of bubbles. I felt like a kid...and it felt good! :)
-Me playing with bubbles. My bubbles bottle had the Nokia 8250 packaging. hahaha-
Yen and Me. ;)
I loveee the beach. Thank goodness the second day's sun was good to us. Wasn't as hot as the first day when we arrived. :)
Kind of a candid shot. I was mesmerized by the sand. :p
Took another me-in-water picture in the evening. That explains the darker shade of colour in the background. :) In the first picture I was merely standing there and Yen was saying "oi!! POSE LA!" So I just did the common pose which ended up like that on the right side. Quite CMI (cannot-make-it) I think. ROFL.
So-called walking "emo-ly" by the beach. :p
At night after dinner, we went back to our room and started drinking (I drank 1 cup which had more Sprite and ice than alcohol.LOL) Still, I had that "light" feeling coming up in my head. We played spin the bottle for a bit and went out to hang out with our "new found friends" (people who worked at Redang Bay). haha. They were a cool bunch. :)
We danced and danced and I felt so sweaty all over. It was good though. The whole feeling of "lightness" and "almost-headache" from drinking that 1 measely cup was all gone by the time we finished.
The 6 of us and some of them. Kinda miss them. haha. :p
After that, we decided to go to the beach and dip ourselves in the water because we felt wayy too hot. The girls went in their undies while the guys went in their boxers and "speedos". hahahaha
From left to right : Chan Heng, Me, Fernie and RJ. Yen was taking the picture while Boon was chilling at the hammock behind us. He joined us later.
It was really fun that night..we laid down and looked at the stars..talked about crap and sang some songs. Threw sand balls and hugged because it was cold..etc etc. :p
On the third day, we went for jungle trekking which wasn't really much of a jungle trek because he seemed to rush the whole thing. Hmm
Poor Yen got her feet scratched because she fell from one of the slippery rocks.
-Me walking along the trek-
The highlight of the last night for me was this...
I have never witnessed a marriage proposal before..so, it was really heart-warming for me when I saw this. The guy stood in the center of the heart while the friends stood behind her name "Mei". They sang a love song in chinese and after the song he held out a bouquet of flower to her and proposed. "Will you marry me?" he said. And it was obvious that he was quite nervous because he was just looking at her for her reply. The girl who was witnessing everything from above was just laughing and smiling and she looked quite shy. He ran up to her and gave her the flowers. She said yes and he gave a big grin with a peace sign. Everyone cheered and they kissed. Sigh. So sweet :')
Overall, I would say that the trip was worth everything I paid for and more. I could've never asked for a graduation trip which was as fun as that because there were times I laughed so hard I forgot I could actually laugh like that. lol. Thanks everyone for making it such a memorable 4 days. ;)
Last pic: me being rolled up like a sushi- LOL! :p
I took more than 4 hours to finish this post! (and I didn't even explain about the trip a 100%. Was just the tip of the iceberg) wow. This is my Longest time spent on a single post.
